Hilda Garcia is VP Multiplatform Content and Information for Impremedia, La Opinion’s parent company. Garcia has extensive experience in digital media. Among other assignments, she was deputy general multimedia for El Universal, the largest news site in Mexico; general editor for digital in the Grupo Editorial Expansión, a Time Warner property in Mexico, launching www.cnnexpansion.com, www.quien.com and www.chilango.com working to support the multimedia integration efforts among magazine editors and print and digital platforms; and deputy director of multimedia at the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia, where she developed their website, www.endi.com.

García studied journalism at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and obtained a Masters degree at the University of Miami with the theme of “mediamorphosis Weblogs and journalism.”

Hilda Garcia, V.P., multiplatform content & information, impreMedia (La Opinión), came to support La Opinión through its corporate parent, impreMedia, in 2010. Garcia started her career at a cable TV station in Mexico City, and then moved to Reforma, a major Mexican newspaper. She moved to digital news in the late 1990s at Reforma, then Compuserve and later AOL recruited her. Garcia sees her job at impreMedia as leading print journalists into the digital age. “My job is to convince them that it’s easy to produce content in many other platforms,” says Garcia. “Print … and the rest of the platforms.”
