Jim Mayo

Jim Mayo, the Sequoyah County Times' publisher, graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Jim has held most jobs at the newspaper from selling newspapers on the street to acting as president of Cookson Hills Publishers, the family corporation that owns the Times. He is a past president, Oklahoma Press Association and Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation, and was named to the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 1993.

Jeff Mayo, associate publisher and general manager of the Sequoyah County Times, has a degree in Community Journalism from the University of Kansas and a law degree from the University of Minnesota. He practiced law for a few years and then returned to Sallisaw and the Times to help his father (Jim Mayo, publisher) and because he wanted to experience a greater connection to the community in which he lived. Jeff Mayo is the winner of the National Newspaper Association’s 2010 Daniel M. Phillips Leadership Award.
